Since Lightroom first launched 18 years ago, Scott Kelby’s The Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Book has been the world’s #1 top-selling Lightroom book (it has been translated into dozens of different languages), and this latest version is a huge update where Scott shares all his newest techniques, insights, and invaluable tips using his award-winning, plain-English style that makes learning Lightroom easy and fun.

Scott doesn’t just show you which sliders do what (every Lightroom book does that, right?). Instead, he shares his own personal settings, his time-tested techniques, and his proven step-by-step method of learning Lightroom, so you can begin using it like a pro from the start. Each year, he trains thousands of Lightroom users at his live seminars, online conferences, and through his blog at LightroomKillerTips.com, and he has learned firsthand what really works and what doesn’t. He tells you flat-out which techniques work best, which ones to avoid, and why.

You’ll learn:

  • His SLIM (Simplified Lightroom Image Management) system, which is taught at colleges and universities around the world because it’s so simple and straightforward, as it teaches you step by step how to organize your images, back them up, and be able to find them quickly and easily.
  • How to make your images look like the pros, remove distracting things that are ruining otherwise great photos, and finally “get” the whole image editing thing. You’ll learn exactly what to do, in which order, and why.
  • How to unlock the incredible power of Lightroom’s Masking tools (these are real game changers), including how to “paint with light” and Scott’s top masking tips to take your images to another level.
  • How to use Lightroom along with Photoshop, and how to make the two work together absolutely seamlessly. You’ll be surprised at what you’ll be able to do, even if you’ve never used Photoshop before.
  • How to expand Lightroom’s power to your phone or tablet, so you can organize and edit your images from anywhere.
  • How to share your images in print and in gorgeous coffee table books, or online, including how to do online client proofing or share images with a group.

You can download many of the same images in the book, so you can follow right along, and you’ll get a killer collection of custom Lightroom Develop and Print presets to give you some of the most sought-after looks and effects, all with just one click.

This is the first and only book to bring the whole process together in such a clear, concise, and visual way. There is no faster, more straight-to-the-point, or more fun way to learn Lightroom.

The Kelby books are the best. I’ve been using them ever since Apple did away with Aperture and I had to learn a whole new software suite. The books are logically organized and provide the kind of step by step information someone like me – who absolutely HATES learning new software – needs. And although the logical progression through features is a real plus, I keep it on my desk right next to my computer because I find I can also skip around to subjects I need for the job at hand and then get back to a more disciplined reading. Yep. Highly recommended.

So much information and the layout and organization of the book is insightful. If there is ever a question about the program, this book has all the answers. Highly recommend for beginners of the digital programs to experts.

I like the way Scott Kelby writes. His sense of humor makes the book approachable and easy to read. The advice is spot on. And rather than simply giving you all the features, he gives you a work flow that will make your life so much easier. He is blunt about things that will get you in trouble. I’ve read multiple versions of his books on iPhone photography, Lightroom and Photoshop. I’m always pleased with what I learn and how to apply it. I got his latest version so I can catch up with all the new features Adobe has packed. In.

The first time I tried to manage Lightroom classic on my own I was so completely overwhelmed and frustrated that I gave up,even though I really needed to be able to use this program. I initially took this book out of the library to see if it would help because I’m not the most computer savvy. Let me tell you that this book makes learning Lightroom classic so EASY. The author explains things in such clear and thorough detail, with a sense of humor I might add, that I am now excited that I am becoming quite skilled with Lightroom classic. I cannot emphasize enough how important this book is. I bought it without hesitation and so should you. I can’t imagine there would be a better book to use for Lightroom classic.

Scott Kelby’s books are always well done with clear instructions and generous use of photographs and screen grabs to illustrate what is being discussed.

I’ve been taking photos for many years but only switched to shooting images in RAW format in the past year or so. All RAW images require post-processing to create photo books, etc. I had previously used Adobe Photoshop Elements for image processing but kept hearing more about Adobe Lightroom being the overwhelming choice for such work. Lightroom has a steep learning curve (at least in my case). I managed to muscle my way through several projects, learning via online tutorials and trial and error with the product. Finding this approach lacking, I bought several books on Lightroom Classic (the version I use) only to find them woefully inadequate. Books with very large type presumably to fill more pages while avoiding creating good content, and low res black and white illustrations that are impossible to readd. Worst of all, I found numerous errors in the text of at least one of these texts, bottom line is I didn’t learn much of anything from them.

I waited for Scott Kelby’s book to be released and paid more for it than any of the others, but have finally found the text that I was looking for. This text is clearly written and covers the topics I found absent in other LrC books. In particular, his book starts with a thorough discussion of file organization and importing, which forms the base of using these Adobe products. No other LrC text could explain the difference and relationships between folders, catalogs and collections in a way that I could understand. The progression of topics through the book is logical and comprehensive, covering things of interest to hobbyists and professionals.

The illustrations throughout the book are in color and in good resolution, even if one with the mileage like I have needs to occasionally use a lens to check out the smallest aspects of the illustrations.

I cannot recommend this book highly enough, I only wish I had found it sooner.
